China Facts: Fake goods on Taobao

To combat fakes, China's main business regulator, China's State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC) inspected 92 products categories across several e-commerce market places between August and October 2014. Among the three major B2C websites,'s role of authentic goods (90%) is slightly ahead of Alibaba's T-mall (85.71%) and another site Yihaodian (80%). Taobao only had a 37.25% rate of authentic goods. In other words, the inspection result suggested that two-thirds of the products sold on Alibaba's Taobao platform were not genuine products*)!
