China Facts: China in Africa, get the facts right!



China facts, the F.T. reports that the total number of Chinese across the African continent appears to have peaked at around 1 million in 2013, and substantially decreased since then except in countries such as Kenya and Ethiopia*). The historically flow of Chinese money and workers has prompted the common view that China is Africa's most important economic partner. Such common views does not necessarily mean that it is true. If one look at actual inflow of investments rather than general pledges the Chinese accounts for only about 5% of all existing investment in Africa, and a similar share of new investments. America's investment stock is twice as much**)
